Changes in Fluxx 5.0:
Fluxx 5.0 is an amalgam of Fluxx 4.0 and Fluxx Special Edition. Like SE, it drops all Creepers and Creeper-related cards. It also drops the Cosmos Keeper which was added in 4.0 and replaces it with Music from Fluxx SE (along with its associated goals). The Friend, Pizza, and Ice Cream keepers from SE do not return, but Peace from 4.0 is back, along with the new goal World Peace (Peace + Dreams) to bolster it. Another new goal, Bread & Chocolate, is added to replace Dough, and All You Need is Love is simply dropped.
Version 5.0 retains all the New Rules from 4.0—except of course the Creeper-specific rules Silver Lining and You Also Need a Baked Potato—and also adds the rules that Fluxx SE added—Goal Mill, Recycling, and Mystery Play. It also adds Swap Plays for Draws from Star Fluxx. (A minor note about hand limits: Fluxx 5.0 contains the more traditional Hand Limit 0, 1, and 2, rather than Hand Limit 1, 2, 3, and 4 like SE.)
Actions are more similar to SE than 4.0 due to the removal or replacement of cards which reference Creepers (for example, Trash Something was replaced with Trash a Keeper), but there is still considerable overlap. Two actions that were dropped in SE—Today's Special and Take Another Turn—are back in 5.0, but conversely, two actions which were added in SE—Everybody Pass 1 and Shuffle Hands—have been dropped. Random Tax replaces Taxation, and Roshambo Showdown (from the BoardGameGeek.com expansion pack) has been added.
