Contents -------- 1.0 - Introduction 1.2 - Install 1.3 - Notes 1.4 - FAQ's 1.5 - Credits 1.0 - Introduction ------------------ Congratulations! You have your offical level set of A Blast From The Past. Before you continue, You must read the Install chapter, 1.2 - Install ------------- Copy these files from the zip file to your Chip's Challenge Directory, A Blast from the Past.dat Readme.txt Running from the editor, (Recommenced) Run your Chip's Challenge Editor (ChipEdit, CCTools, Chip's Workshop). Find the data file. Click Open. Then select the playtest menu and click on playtest. Althourgh it is recommenced that you backup entpack.ini, I don't do it. Nothing really happens to your entpack.ini. I suguest every 15 times you playtest. You may also use other programs such as MyChips, T-Chip, Tile World, Etc. If you what to run the level set directly from the game, back up these files. c:\windows\entpack.ini and c:\xxx\chips.dat (Replace the xxx with the directory where Chips Challenge is found. Why Back Up These Files? First, The passwords in entpack.ini will change when you compleate a level. If you want to return to the old levels. You will NOT be able to skip through levels, "unless you use the ctrl + d cheat." Second, backup chips.dat. This should be the old version of Chip's Challenge. Chip's Challenge will only read a dat file if it is named chips.dat. Take your new dat file and rename it to chips once you've backed up the old one. This will make your new data file run anytime you run Chip's Challenge. If you want to return to the old levels, rename chips.dat to A Blast from the past.dat and restore the original files to their locations. 1.3 - Notes ----------- * Chip, for the first few levels you will see some of the old levels from Chip's Challenge. They are in a new kind of look. So they are easier or harder to play. You will also see a few from the Lost levels that were re-done. * Level 22 takes me back to my school days when one grade would be leaving lunch (monsters moving left) and the other grade (Chip and the monsters moving right) would quickly switch recess and lunch. Help Chip get to the lunch line first (Two Chips by Exit Squares) before he gets pushed and bullied by the other students! * Level 31 takes a lot of guts to beat when everything is yellow and orange! You might lose count when there is a gap in the monster line. The info in the hint circle helps you to slove the maze a lot quicker. * Level 33 is very hard to get through. Lead each monster out of the square and into the water one by one. There is no time limit. * Level 39 is a cloning level. Once you hit a trap button, you have to run in front of that cloning mechine and run as fast as you can. You will be doing this for every button you push. Be careful Chip, I saved the hardest one for last. * Level 60 - 63 you will come though some mazes that look like American's favorite yellow family... The Simpsons. They are easy. Load them in ChipEdit to see the whole thing. * Level 86 is very hard to beat. It has tons of blobs in it. The good thing about it is that you only have to get half of the Chips in this level. Timing is important. * Level 89 - 92 are tests. Like in High Scool, you have to complete the ACT, SAT I, II, and the PSAT/NMSQT tests for collage. They are hard and challenging but in a way you may be easy for you. * Level 97 - 99 are levels that I can't realy tell you about. All I can tell you is that they are special levels. * Level 100, Last Level, 1.4 - FAQ's ----------- Q: My game glitches or closes when I pick up a key and get killed by a monster at the same time. A: This is be cause of two reasons. 1.) The game can not alow three objects on the same squre. 2.) The game can not play the key sound and the bummer sound at the same time. When this happens, you may get a general fault (windows 3.11), A illegal Error (Windows 95+) or those blue screens witch may require a reboot (Windows 95+). Nothing is lost when the game crashes. you may be at the first level when you open the game again, but your scores and passwords are not lost. Q: Why did it take a long time for you to release A Blast from the past? A: This was because 1.) I was having problems with my computer, 2.) Summer activities, and 3.) School Q: I forgot to backup my Chips Challenge Data file (chips.dat) and now I can't go back to the old levels that came with it? What Should I do? A: Don't panic, the file can be downloaded off my site at: www.geocities.com/snowvale/chipdata.html Q: Will you make another Chip's Challenge data file? A: Maybe, I have run out of ideas for Chips Challenge, but coming soon you can download my friend's file Mitchell's Impossible II and my cusion's file. 1.5 - Credits ------------- Level Set Created By Brian P.
